I did a TON of world-building for Starscape. I figured out pretty close to everything. One thing I created was a star chart because at the time I was into astronomy, and since stars are so important to the story (and because astronomy is cool), I thought it would be fun to make a star chart.ContinueContinue reading “The stars of Militer”

Pirating website’s synopsis of Starscape
This gave me untold amusement, despite the fact my book appeared on a pirating website. It’s like they put it through a number of layers of Google Translate. My favourite parts are “thermonuclear weapons” and “peloponnesian wars of the Valintari”. And so, for your reading pleasure, I give you: a synopsis of Starscape courtesy of oneContinueContinue reading “Pirating website’s synopsis of Starscape”
Excerpts from Seascape #4
Ledmi was Einur’s home then…
Songscape music
I’m back! Got some more writing done, and I’ve invented a system where a friend of mine who’s also a writer and I both have to send each other at least one new chapter each Saturday (punishment for not doing so is 3 chapters due the next Saturday), so I should be finished my draftContinueContinue reading “Songscape music”
Character designs from Seascape
Another author recommended DollDivine.com on her blog as a way to visualise characters. I was intrigued and checked out the site, and found it excellent. Quite a bit of spare time over the next couple days was spent in designing some of the main characters and a couple minor ones from Seascape. If you like toContinueContinue reading “Character designs from Seascape”
Excerpts from Seascape #3: NO! Not an excerpt!
Not an excerpt, but a whole chapter! If you haven’t been reading my blog regularly, then start with Chapter One, then return here to read Chapter Two, in which I introduce Lody, Einur’s sweet little sister, and a number of distasteful persons. You will perhaps notice, if you compare the ending of this chapter with theContinueContinue reading “Excerpts from Seascape #3: NO! Not an excerpt!”
Excerpts #2 – The Legend of the Klendil Caves
“Once upon a time there was a maiden of Selotan who was fair beyond words, and her hair fell flaxen to her knees. She was called Klenora, and her father’s neighbour’s son loved her dearly and she returned his love. But when they approached the Illyrië for leave to wed, they were refused. Yet theContinueContinue reading “Excerpts #2 – The Legend of the Klendil Caves”
Excerpts from Seascape – #1
I’m gonna do a series of these little excerpts from my WIP. Behold the first one! This is like my favourite line in the entire story so far…
Quick update!
I know this post is sickeningly, shamefully late. I’ve been busy with work and life recently and I couldn’t think of anything to blog about. A brief update on what I’ve been up to with Seascape and my other writing should suffice, I think. Who knows, maybe I’ll make a habit of doing monthly updates.
“Deleted scene” from Starscape (spoilers)
Who doesn’t love a good deleted scene? I know I do – I was more than delighted to discover that my new copy of Jane Austen’s Persuasion included her original ending for the book! The scene below never made it into the final draft of Starscape, but I’d love to share it with you anyways since it still fitsContinueContinue reading ““Deleted scene” from Starscape (spoilers)”
